Please try to carry a selection of foods and not just a backpackfull of 3 minute noodles (yes we know they are light and easy to carry but we don't want to JUST donate noodles).

Do I have to carry the food with me on the ride?

While we feel that carrying a few kilos of food in a backpack is a small price to pay compared to the load that the poor and homeless have to endure everyday, we do understand that some riders may not be able to carry the food with them on the 40km ride. With this in mind, we suggest the following local supermarkets near the Sacred Heart Mission in St Kilda where you can stop and purchase food prior to donating-

Coles
Acland Court, Acland St
St Kilda

Safeway
117 Acland Street
St Kilda

Renaissance Supa IGA
64 Fitzroy Street
St Kilda

What if 40km is too far for me?

If 40 km's sounds too far for you to ride or you are short of time, feel free to join up with the group anywhere along the route (see map above). Just wait for the group to roll past (you won't miss us- look for Santa and his reindeers) and jump onto the back of the group.

How do I get to Frankston for the start?

Many riders will be riding down to Frankston before the ride while others will be catching the train down. If you are planning to catch a train down to Frankston for the start, please note that the last two trains to make it into Frankston for the 8.30am start are as follows-

Leaving Flinders St 7:00am – arriving Frankston 7:58am
Leaving Flinders St 7:20am – arriving Frankston 8:18am

Full train timetable can be found here

The Frankston Vistors Centre is a short 5 minute ride south from Frankston Station. See the map link below for further details- http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Sacred-Heart-Mission-Community-Cycle

What happens after we donate the food at the Mission?

After the ride, we will have a short prize giving ceremony at the Sacred Heart Mission so make sure you hang about. There are no specific plans to do anything after this, however many riders will most likely be stopping for breakfast in St Kilda so listen out for word of a cafe meeting point. If you are new to cycling, be sure to come along to breakfast and enjoy the post ride camaraderie.

Is there any entry fee or entry form?

As this ride is an informal one, anyone is free to join us with no entry required. All we ask is that you bring a sense of fun and humour along with you, and most importantly- a bag full of food to donate to the Sacred Heart Mission. Feel free to come up and introduce yourself to Santa and co- we will be happy to have you on board!
